The Private Cloud Lead engineer part of the Private Cloud Platform team will take ownership of technical leadership of day-to-day operations and continued strategic development of our Private Cloud on-premise infrastructure, in order to ensure they are resilient, secure and simple to meet strategic objectives of the bank and supporting 24/7 banking operations. The role will also take responsibility for information security governance, within Technology.
Role & Responsibilities:
· On-call support and escalation point to support 24/7 banking operations as agreed with your line manager
· Lead on major incidents working with key stakeholders during such events and providing technical management and oversight to resolution.
· Hands on management of networking and telephony services operationally, to ensure services perform in line with agreed service levels and in a way that is both resilient and efficient.
· Day to day escalation point of the Private Cloud Platform team.
· Continuously improve the quality and efficiency of the services provided with a real focus on automation, integration and efficient delivery.
· Working aligned to strategic roadmap for the continuous improvement of platforms, based on the priorities of the business.
· Identify and build relationships with key consumer groups across Technology, to ensure Private Cloud platform services are positioned to enable their objectives, and the wider objectives of the bank.
· Work with Platform Manager to develop the Private Cloud team to ensure it has the right skills, competencies and experience to succeed.
· Ensure the bank’s Private Cloud platform and security operations are well governed, that operational procedures and standards are well documented and consistently followed, and records are maintained appropriately for a regulated environment.
· Proactively work with architecture teams to ensure Private Cloud platform services are developed in line with the bank’s wider technology strategy.
· Maintain an up-to-date view of financial services regulation relating to your areas of responsibility and ensure operations under your control remain compliant.
· Support supplier relationships to ensure suppliers consistently achieve the expected levels of service.
· Proactively identify and manage operational risks, ensure that they are recorded in the operational risk log and mitigating actions are agreed.
Mandatory Skills:
· Substantial experience of delivering critical IT infrastructure services, in a regulated environment.
· Strong hands-on understanding of physical and virtual infrastructure and systems in a data center environment.
· Experience of managing suppliers to ensure they consistently meet their commitments and deliver a high standard of service.
· An experienced systems engineer with solid systems administration and scripting skills.
· Demonstrable experience of administration and support for Windows Server technologies, VMWare, NSX, Dell VxRail, IDPA, SAN infrastructure, Active Directory, Avamar, PowerShell, Qualys, Sophos, SCOM and Dell RecoverPoint
· Deep technical knowledge of VMWare technologies
· In-depth experience in network topologies and common network protocols and services (DNS, HTTP(S), SSH, FTP, SMTP, NFS, SMB)
· In-depth practical experience supporting Windows and Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment.
· Experience of SQL and Oracle and clustering services
· Experience of performing and analyzing network traces
· An understanding of information security best practice, and associated security principles and regulations.
· Experience of working with offshore teams and third-party suppliers when performing support and maintenance activity and in resolving issues.
