Job Responsibilities -
- Collaborate with the client, business, and user team for requirement discussions.
- Engage in knowledge acquisition, technical design, and estimation for fixes and enhancements.
- Actively participate in both functional and technical discussions with customer SMEs and tech leads.
- Coordinate work allocation and sync with the offshore development and QA team.
- Engage with customer business users for project prioritization and design discussions.
- Collaborate with the client user team to prioritize bug defects and changes.
- Reproduce the defects reported by the client.
- Expected to foster good team collaboration among other leads and BAS.
- Coordinate with the customer help desk to address complete infrastructure-related tasks and queries for both onsite and offshore teams.
- Work with the customer server administration team to manage implementation and change control tasks.
- Partner with developers to conduct root cause analysis and preliminary problem diagnosis.
- Technically lead the VAXVMS development team.
- Promptly report to onsite and offshore managers.
- Promptly report to customer stakeholders.
- Educate the team to ensure that the nature of defects and bugs is not repeated.
- Take full ownership of the technical landscape of the application during knowledge acquisition.
- Build a knowledge repository to assist the development and QA team in understanding business requirements.
- Define life cycle process templates and checklists.
- Conduct group design reviews with the customer team.
- Conduct group code reviews with the customer and offshore team.
- Reach out to the larger team for cross-functional knowledge sharing, training, and review.
- Engage with any customer team for resolution and clarification.
Candidate should have -
- 10 years of experience in COBOL programming and VAXVMS development
- Strong COBOL programming skills
- Extensive experience with VAXVMS operating system
- Familiarity with VAX COBOL compiler and related utilities
- Experience with VAXVMS file systems and database management
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with COBOL applications and VAXVMS systems
- Provide technical support to end users
- Develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL programs and applications running on VAXVMS
- Write tests and debug COBOL code according to specifications
- Develop and document code according to company standards
- Proficient in the VAXVMS operating system and its associated tools
- Familiar with VAX COBOL compiler and related utilities
- Experience with VAXVMS file systems and database management
- Experience with the ICMS tool and with RDB Relational Database
Preferred Skills -
- Experience with specific VAXVMS applications or industries
- Experience with other legacy technologies
- Experience with Agile development methodologies
