Work with the Bank's IT Architecture Team aligned to an IT Delivery Capability that delivers the transformation agenda and outcomes. In this case the consultant will work across multiple projects within the Treasury, Risk and Finance delivery capability.

Participate in workshops, providing quality assurance and gathering requirements to shape project deliverables.

  • Understand the Bank's As-Is Architecture components including processes, capabilities, applications, technologies and integration
  • Formulate and document project artefacts that help to articulate desired direction of travel:

o   Design principles and policies

o   Technical Requirements (Functional and Non-Functional)

o   Technical standards

o   Key Decisions

o   Solution briefs and high-level designs

o   Contribute to required procurement processes such as RFx, vendor selection and workshops.

o   Oversee and assure the work of in-house and external design and delivery resources.

o   Challenge delivery partner(s) proposals where necessary to protect the Bank’s interests and needs.

  • If required, act as the key technical point of contact for partners and engage with internal teams to ensure all interests are taken into account.



  1.  Implementation Arrangements

The Consultant shall work under the direct supervision of and report to the Service/Software Delivery Manager and the Chief Architect on all activities as specified in the section “Deliverables”.

The Bank shall not seek to exercise any direction, control, or supervision over the Consultant’s working methods in the provision of services. Within the scope of services, the Consultant shall complete their work in adherence to relevant Bank policies, process and standards.

  1. Deliverables

The Consultant will contribute to the following activities, and work across the project team and the Bank to ensure tasks and goals are delivered on time and adhere to defined quality standards:

  • Responsible for the solution architecture for the Treasury & Operations transformation (covers at a high-level loan booking and administration, payments, guarantees management, exotic trade pricing and booking, market data management) aligning to the strategic vision, set by the Capability Lead Architect.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders (consultancy firms, software vendors, service providers, etc.) to identify and analyse solution options, providing technical steer for the projects and BAU teams.
  • Responsible for the solution architecture documentation and taking it through the governance.
  • Ensure that solutions are an appropriate balance between short-term delivery needs and medium/long-term strategic aspirations. All deviations from agreed roadmaps should be explicit and agreed through appropriate governance.
  • Responsible for the delivery of solution architecture artifacts throughout the project delivery lifecycle
  • Cross-programme alignment of architectures, applications, and data to provide consistency and quality across the solution.
  • Build and maintenance of catalogues and models at appropriate levels of abstraction.
  • Identify and drive the resolution or remedy of issues and risks relating to the items above.
  • Proposition of appropriate technologies and techniques for meeting challenges in the programme.
  • Presentation and explanation of architecture matters in governance and other fora where appropriate
  1. Experience

3.1 Essential

  • Experience working with financial services
  • Excellent communication in both a written and verbal form
  • Extensive experience in the solution architecture across Treasury Management Systems (TMS) and Commercial Lending solutions.  Finastra Summit experience is mandatory. 
  • Understanding of Financial Processes including knowledge of cash management, forecasting, risk management, payments, accounting, compliance, etc
  • Extensive experience in Solution Architecture methodology and frameworks. This involves understanding different architecture patterns, technologies, and platforms with the ability to demonstrate As-Is and To-Be
  • Proven ability to transform wide-ranging business requirements and strategic aspirations into concise solution options within the set strategic vision and technical constraints
  • Awareness of the leading industry trends in the architectural domain
  • Good formal modelling skills, including UML
  • Actively engaged and aware of current developments in architecture and related disciplines, tools and markets

3.2 Desired

  • Experience in trade lifecycle management technical transformation, including experience with Finastra Summit (Treasury and/or Commercial Lending), integration of treasury systems with finance systems (e.g. S/4HANA), ActiveViam Atoti Business Solutions and solutions built on QuantLib
  • Integration and API Skills: Knowledge of API integration and interfacing technologies
  • Programming skills in one or more languages e.g. Python, Java, SQL
  • Experience in payment systems (incl. experience with SWIFT)
  • Ability to work across various technologies within the specific domain
  • Understanding of different project delivery lifecycle frameworks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to develop deep business knowledge and offer advice that spans across IT and business domains.
  • Experience of large IT and Business Change programmes
  • Able to work effectively across multiple cross-functional teams and contexts, responding to their differing needs and levels of expertise, in an Agile delivery model
  • Experience in documenting and presenting architectural artefacts to the senior stakeholders, both IT and the business, and architectural governance process
  • Experience operating in mid-sized corporate environment with technological legacy
  • Experience in shaping the architecture in agile environment
  • Proven experience in working collaboratively with the challenging stakeholders
  • Demonstrable evidence of facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Ability to make decisions in the environment of uncertainty with clear articulation of assumptions and risks.
