We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive AS400 System Administrator to support our IBM iSeries (AS400) environment. The primary responsibilities include basic system administration, monitoring batch jobs, and ensuring the smooth operation of scheduled processes. This role is ideal for candidates with foundational AS400 knowledge and a strong focus on operational stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor AS400 system performance and health using system tools and dashboards.
Track and manage batch job execution, including job queues, job logs, and job statuses.
Identify and escalate job failures, delays, or anomalies to appropriate teams.
Perform basic user administration (e.g., password resets, user profile maintenance).
Manage printer queues and resolve printing issues on AS400.
Execute routine operational tasks such as backups, IPLs (Initial Program Loads), and system cleanups.
Maintain documentation for job schedules, system procedures, and incident handling.
Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve system-related issues.
Participate in on-call rotation or after-hours support as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Basic understanding of IBM i (AS400) operating system and command line interface.
Experience with job scheduling tools (e.g native AS400 job scheduler).
Familiarity with AS400 commands like WRKACTJOB, WRKJOB, WRKOUTQ, DSPMSG, etc.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to follow standard operating procedures and escalate issues appropriately.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to CL programming or RPG is a plus.
Knowledge of ITIL practices or ticketing systems
