We would need a senior Mainframe experienced associate with extensive knowledge in
IMS, DB2, CICS PL1, COBOL, JCL and MQ. Proven experience in real-time and batch programming environments
Key Responsibilities:
IMS to DB2 Bridge & Data Propagation
- Design and develop enhancements to the bridge responsible for asynchronous data propagation between IMS and DB2.
- Read and interpret IMS logs to identify updated rows and translate them into executable SQL commands on DB2.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across IMS and DB2 systems.
- Maintain and optimize PL/I programs for complex data transformation and synchronization.
IMS Realtime Logic & Data Modeling
- Maintain and evolve the IMS data model in a real-time environment.
- Analyze and implement load balancing strategies for transactions across physical IMS tables.
- Collaborate with DBAs to calculate storage requirements and evaluate consumption for new and existing tables.
- Modify COBOL applications using IMS APIs to support logical load balancing and performance improvements.
- MQ messaging for real-time transaction handling and inter-system communication.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks across mainframe components.
Additional Experience
- Application enhancements or creation of new IMS databases.
- Proven incident handling and resolution capabilities.
Competencies:
- IMS DBA level knowledge.
- Calculate storage needs for new tables.
- Evaluate current consumption on existing tables.
- COBOL application IMS API.
- Make changes to the logical load balancing between our IMS tables.
- PL1 programming, highly skilled, complex technical solution.
- IMS on a technical level not only application API, the bridge programs also scans the IMS logs to find insert operations, so an understanding of the IMS logs is needed.
- Experience in cards and payments will be an added advantage.
