Purpose of the role:
The Domain Data Steward will support the Data Domain Manager in setting critical data flows under governance.
The Domain Data Steward has the overarching responsibility to execute effective and correct governance of data in its scope, in alignment with strategic goals and regulatory compliance.
The Domain Data Steward is responsible to secure that data is fit for purpose according to set Data
Domain targets and strategies.
General duties and responsibilities:
Data Identification & Description:
• Identify and set data elements in Data Domain scope and ensure necessary alignments across
• adjacent Data Domains.
• Drive, facilitate and prepare decision-making to establish Critical Data Elements for Data Domain
• scope.
• Drive, facilitate and prepare decision-making to establish common definitions within the Data
• Domain, publish and maintain these in the Central Glossary in the Metadata Management tool.
• Build and maintain a Conceptual Data Model of the key concepts in the Data Domain.
• Ensure that Critical Data Elements are mapped towards application-level terms in the calculation and
• consumption layer.
• Recommend authoritative, trusted and verified sources for critical data for decision in relevant forum
• or council.
• Stakeholder identification and stakeholder management
• Identify and document key business processes and applications related to the Data Domain scope and associated Data Owners and Data Custodians.
• Engage and inform Data Custodians, Data Owners and Architects on expectations and provide support on data governance processes and activities.
• Identify other key data experts and data users when needed e.g., to provide definitions, context, own specific terms or metrics.
• Data Lineage
• Coordinate that business lineage is complete from system of origin to calculation and consumption
• layer for CDE:s in Data Domain scope.
• Identify potential gaps for technical lineage and drive remediation activities together with Data
• Custodians, e.g., provide the needed Metadata for scanning by central data lineage tools, and
• advocate for higher priority of data lineage scanning tasks.
• Identify potential gaps in Application Lineage for Data Domain scope and coordinate remediation.
• Data Quality Management
• Gather Data Quality requirements and overall data challenges regarding the Data Domain from data
• consumers.
• Define and consolidate Data Domain-level Global Data Quality rules and thresholds for Critical Data
• Elements in the Metadata Management Tool.
• Propose data-related interventions (e.g., controls, gates, and measurements) for Critical Data
• Elements and evaluate the business impact to support prioritization.
• Order, prioritize and follow-up implementation of data related interventions, and support Agile
• Teams in defining and implementing application-specific Data Quality rules.
• Set up Data Quality dashboard in Metadata Management tool. This includes both to support Agile
• Teams in establishing application level Data Quality dashboards and to maintain Data Domain-level
• Data Quality dashboard.
• Support Agile Teams in analysis of Data Quality incidents, gaps and their root-causes (including
• locating the IT system where root cause resides), and evaluate their business impact.
• Ensure that Data Quality threshold breaches are registered as incidents in Data Quality Incident
• Management tool. Order, support and follow-up implementation of root cause fix by Agile Teams in IT systems.
• Support Agile Teams in new data initiatives to ensure data governance expectations are met.
• Follow-up & Reporting
• Prepare Data Domain-level Data Quality and Data Governance reporting to e.g., Data Domain
• decision-forum and for group-wide aggregation.
• Follow-up on Portfolio level adherence to Data Governance expectations within Data Domain scope,
• e.g., Data Quality status, issues and remediation status.
• Follow-up on Process level adherence to Data Governance expectations within Data Domain scope
• Security, privacy and retention.
• Consolidate and document sharing and access principles for data in Data Domain scope.
• Consolidate and document privacy and Data Domain standards across Data Domain scope, e.g.,
• Personal Identifiers, retention rules.
