Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced RPGLE Developer to support development and
enhancement work in the Merch Planning and Allocation space within a leading retail
environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills on the IBM iSeries
(AS/400) platform, a solid understanding of retail business processes, and the ability to
collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, and Merch
Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
● Develop, modify, and maintain applications written in RPGLE, CLLE, and SQLRPGLE.
● Enhance and optimize programs supporting Merch Planning, Item, and Allocation
functions.
● Analyze business requirements and translate them into efficient technical solutions.
● Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, ensuring the performance and stability of key
systems.
● Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and other developers to deliver high-quality
releases on schedule.
● Support data integration between iSeries applications and enterprise systems such as
Warehouse, planning or order management tools.
● Document technical designs, code changes, and deployment procedures.
Required Qualifications:
● Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience developing applications in RPGLE (free-
format preferred).
● Strong working knowledge of RPGLE, CLLE, SQLRPGLE, and DB2/400.
● Experience with ILE concepts, service programs, and modular programming.
● Proficiency in analyzing and debugging existing code within complex business
applications.
● Ability to understand Merchandising, warehouse, and Allocation workflows.
● Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
● Self-motivated and able to work independently or as part of a distributed team.
● Experience in AS400-based change management tool Implementor
Preferred Qualifications:
● Retail industry experience with exposure to Merch Planning, Allocation, or Inventory
systems.
● Experience in JSON, REST API-based communication on IBM i.
● Familiarity with Agile methodologies and sprint-based delivery.
